Slow Down Song for Transcription: Hear Every Word
Journalists, students, and court reporters all face the same nemesis: The Fast Talker.
Trying to type out an interview verbatim when the subject is speaking at 200 words per minute is physically impossible. You spend your life hitting "Rewind - Play - Pause - Type - Rewind."
There is a better way: Play it Slower.
The Optimal Transcription Speed
- 0.75x Speed: The sweet spot. It's slow enough to type comfortably but fast enough that the conversation still flows naturally.
- 0.50x Speed: Critical mode. Use this for thick accents, technical jargon, or mumbled words.
How to Set Up Your Transcription Station
- Open Audio Tool: Load your file into our Audio Speed Changer.
- Set Speed: Drag to
0.8x. - Preserve Pitch: Keep this ON. If you turn it off, the speaker will sound like a slow-motion monster, which is distracting and hard to understand.
- Download: Save the
Slow_Interview.mp3. - Open Word Processor: Put your audio player on one side of the screen and your document on the other. Now you can type almost in real-time.
Transcribing Lyrics
The same logic applies to music. Rappers like Eminem or Busta Rhymes spit verses incredibly fast. Slowing the track down allows you to decipher the intricate rhyme schemes syllable by syllable.
