Crop JPEG Online: Remove Borders from Scans
Scanning is messy. Unless you align the paper perfectly to the millimeter, you end up with:
- Black Bars: Large dark areas where the scanner lid was open.
- White Space: Excessive margins around a receipt.
- Table Texture: If you took a photo of a document on your desk, your wooden table is visible in the background.
To make the document look professional, you must Crop It.
The "Crop to Content" Technique
- Upload the Scan: Load your JPEG or PNG image.
- Tighten the Box: Drag the crop handles inward until they hug the text or the edges of the paper.
- Check Corners: Ensure you aren't cutting off page numbers or headers.
- Apply: The result is a clean, rectangular image that looks like a digital native file, not a messy photo.
Why Not Rescan?
Rescanning takes time. Cropping takes 5 seconds. Plus, if you don't have the original paper anymore, cropping is your only option.
Enhancing Further
After cropping, you might want to use our Color Adjuster to increase Contrast. This turns the greyish paper white and makes the black text sharper—perfect for printing.
